OPENING RECEPTION - INHERETED MEMORIES SHOW - 'TIS ART CENTER AND GALLERY, PRESCOTT, AZ

Showing at the ‘Tis Art Center and Gallery, since 2009, you will note Artist C. Vidal’s work having been rather quirky, abstract, and bright.  A private showing on the 2nd Floor Mezzanine of the ‘Tis Art Gallery, this November 2-29, 2012, offers Vidal the ability to showcase another side of her inner visions, as well as the above.  Along with Vidal is Gourd Artist, Robbynne Raupers.  The “Inherited Memories” show will showcase pieces of art portraying that of long ago; its people, its tools, its art, and its history.Vidal’s favorite subject matters are the Native American and Latino cultures.  Vidal has primarily pursued her career by creating art that was marketable instead of primarily focusing on her true passion, due to the limited, demographical audience of these subjects.  Vidal has sold over 1,200 original paintings to art collectors throughout the U.S.  During her career launch, she also taught acrylic art painting in Phoenix, Arizona. She enjoys painting an array of subjects; however, her heart continues to draw her back to the indigenous people of North America.  Vidal’s pieces of art may be known as very eclectic, due to her self- taught career, otherwise known as “Outsider Art”. To date, Vidal’s primary focus is on one of America’s most important photographers and ethnologist’s, Edward S. Curtis.  Curtis’s photography has allowed Vidal to study and truly capture the Native American people without having to travel.  Curtis’s photography is public domain. Vidal’s love for the Native American heritage began at an early age. Being born and raised in Michigan, her affection grew for the indigenous, Algonquian-speaking Native American inhabitants; Kickapoo tribe, Menominee tribe, Ottawa tribe, Ojibwe tribe, and the Potawatomi’s.  After extensive travel throughout her life, Vidal finally settled in Arizona in the year of 1975, where she, again, was inspired by the Native American, as well as the Latino/Hispanic culture.  She has studied their cultures, their beauty, and their ways of life.  She continues to capture her heart felt subjects, now through oil on canvas.
